Photographer

Sometimes I wish I could draw or paint.
I don't know why.. but it feels like a painter is more of an artist than a photographer.
Well.. everybody has their own talents I guess.
But still, how hard can it be to look through a viewfinder and push the button?

Well.. maybe not as easy as pushing a button. :P But it must be a lot easier than painting. (Or I guess that depends on the person..)

I don't think it's fair to make a generalization about one art medium. My opinion is, if you love it, and it's a passion for you than your great at it. If you want to explore other areas than by all means do it! It's not all as easy as it seems. I've painted longer than I've taken pictures, but my real passion lies within my camera. It's my way of being able to show people what I see & how I perceive the world around me. There are millions of photographers out there who all offer something different. As there are painters, and sculpters, and anyone who can pick up a pencil and write an amazing story. Everyone has a certain niche in different fields. If you enjoy than do it. Try something new. It's all a way of expression.

You are right.. I just always seem to find ways to bring my own 'talents' down by comparing myself to others. I guess it's a personal thing. I should stick to what I love, which is photography.

Now don't get me wrong. It's always good and refreshing to try your hand at something new. I love, and appreciate all art.

I have always believed, we as artists are our toughest critics.

Just do what makes what makes you happy.

And try something new.

You never know what you could get out of it :)

I understand what you're saying.

I've tried my hand at drawing and painting through the years. I found it to be a lot of time and effort and ultimately frustrating for me. I am totally amazed by traditional artists and feel the same envy. I am also astonished that so many really good traditional artists here on dA get so few :+fav:s compared to photographers. :hmm: That photography should receive more recognition than traditional art forms is totally backwards in my opinion.
