Colour management..

Sun Nov 1, 2009, 2:53 PM
There's no way I can avoid looking into colour management any longer..

I discovered yesterday when visiting a photography event (Zoom Expecience) that my computer screen is nowhere near calibrated and that my edited pictures look exactly right on my screen but on no one else's.

Of course I already knew that colour and contrast differ a bit per computer screen. I didn't want to take it very seriously though because I always lost my interest in the matter when things got too difficult. (What? Do I have to buy a sensor for this, no standard Windows option?)

As I realized that all my previous Photoshopped photographs are now kind of worthless, my interest in Spyder 2 Express suddenly increased. I will put some money aside for a new computer screen (the one I currently use is way too old) and a screen calibration set!

Changes and thanks!

I'm quite embarrassed about my first DA submissions from about a year ago. But yet I don't want to delete them 'cos it's so funny to see the changing of my photographs through the year. Besides.. everybody starts at the bottom, and without those first pictures I wound't have been where I am now.

Thanks for all the compliments I received in the past year, they really kept me motivated and enthusiastic. Also the beautiful submissions that appear on DeviantArt every day are a great source of inspiration to me!

Question for you..

I'm thinking about selling some framed photographs of mine on eBay. Does anyone have any experience with that?

I really don't know how many interest people have in buying art.. and of course I could just try but I was wondering if any of you already sold pictures there..

Hmm.. the last couple of photographs I submitted are really different from my other work.

I think I'm really into creating dreamy images these days.. and Photoshop helps me a lot with that. But I learned to only improve/change good pictures, not to make ugly pictures pretty. :P

I hope you guys still like what I do! ^^

Sometimes I wish I could draw or paint.
I don't know why.. but it feels like a painter is more of an artist than a photographer.
Well.. everybody has their own talents I guess.
But still, how hard can it be to look through a viewfinder and push the button?
