Hi everyone, welcome to my DA page. So I'm supposed to write something about myself here..

Let's begin with my interest in photography which started in December 2007. I've never put my camera away since and taught myself the basics of photography. Obviously I'm still learning.

I love beauty (who doesn't?), and I'm only glad that I found this particular instrument (my Nikon D40) to make beautiful things myself. In fact I can change the world into a wonderful place just by looking through my viewfinder (and OK, sometimes with a little help from Photoshop).

For two years I've studied Bioinformatics which drastically increased my knowledge of scientific research and biology (I sure needed that for I was a hardcore alpha student at high school). Recently I switched to Linguistics and that reveals my other passion: languages and writing.

Let's say I love to communicate, to express myself, be creative and translate my feelings to either images or words..

Colour management..

Sun Nov 1, 2009, 2:53 PM
There's no way I can avoid looking into colour management any longer..

I discovered yesterday when visiting a photography event (Zoom Expecience) that my computer screen is nowhere near calibrated and that my edited pictures look exactly right on my screen but on no one else's.

Of course I already knew that colour and contrast differ a bit per computer screen. I didn't want to take it very seriously though because I always lost my interest in the matter when things got too difficult. (What? Do I have to buy a sensor for this, no standard Windows option?)

As I realized that all my previous Photoshopped photographs are now kind of worthless, my interest in Spyder 2 Express suddenly increased. I will put some money aside for a new computer screen (the one I currently use is way too old) and a screen calibration set!
